Question 1

How much does a plumber cost in Washington?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the job, but you will always know the price before we start. We quote flat rates for defined work — a water heater swap, a drain clearing, a fixture install — so the number you approve is the number you pay. For larger projects like repipes or sewer replacements, we provide a written, itemized estimate after an on-site evaluation. We do not bill hourly surprises.

Question 2

Are your estimates really free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Estimates for standard and scheduled work are free, with no obligation. For diagnostic work that requires equipment — like a sewer camera inspection or leak detection — we charge a stated diagnostic fee up front, and we credit that fee toward the repair if you hire us to do the work.

Question 3

Do you charge more for evenings or weekends?

Accepted Answer

Emergency after-hours calls carry a dispatch fee, and we tell you that fee on the phone before a truck rolls. The repair itself is priced from the same flat-rate book we use during business hours. You approve the total before work begins.

Question 4

Do you offer financing for large projects?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We offer financing through Acorn Finance for jobs of $1,000 and up. Pre-qualifying takes a few minutes, uses a soft credit pull that doesn't affect your score, and shows you offers from multiple lenders for $1,000 to $100,000 with terms up to 20 years. You choose the offer, apply directly with that lender, and pay us the same flat-rate price you approved. Check your rate or read how financing works.

Question 5

Do you really answer 24/7?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A live dispatcher answers our emergency line around the clock, every day of the year, including holidays. On-call crews are dispatched from our Federal Way headquarters across Western and Eastern Washington, so you always get a realistic arrival window.

Question 6

What should I do while I wait for the plumber?

Accepted Answer

Shut off the water closest to the problem. Every fixture has a stop valve; if the leak is bigger than one fixture, close your main shutoff — usually in the garage, crawl space, or at the meter. Our dispatcher will help you find it on the phone. Then move valuables away from the water and leave the rest to us.

Question 7

What counts as a plumbing emergency?

Accepted Answer

Anything actively damaging your home or making it unsafe: burst or leaking pipes you cannot stop, sewage backing up into the house, no water to the home, a failed water heater that is leaking, or the smell of gas. If you smell gas, leave the building first and call your utility, then call us for the repair.

Question 8

How fast can you get to my house?

Accepted Answer

It depends on where you are and the time of day, but we dispatch 24/7 from our Federal Way headquarters and serve 41+ cities across Washington. When you call, the dispatcher gives you a realistic arrival window — and we keep you updated if anything changes.

Question 9

How do I book an appointment?

Accepted Answer

Three ways: call us, use the Request Service form on this site, or call the 24/7 line for emergencies. Form submissions are reviewed promptly during business hours, and we confirm your appointment window by phone or email.

Question 10

Do I need to be home during the work?

Accepted Answer

An adult needs to let us in and approve the quote before work begins. For longer projects like repipes, we can arrange access with you in advance so you do not have to take multiple days off. We lock up and secure the site whenever we leave.

Question 11

Will you call before you arrive?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You get a heads-up call or text when the technician is on the way, along with the technician's name. No guessing, no four-hour mystery windows without contact.

Question 12

What warranty do you offer on your work?

Accepted Answer

Every repair and installation carries a written workmanship warranty. Terms vary by job type — longer for repipes and sewer replacements, standard terms for repairs — and your invoice states the exact coverage. Manufacturer warranties on equipment like water heaters pass to you in full, and we handle the registration.

Question 13

What does 'satisfaction guarantee' actually mean?

Accepted Answer

If the work is not right, we come back and make it right at no charge. That is the whole policy. We would rather fix a problem than argue about it, and our reviews reflect that.

Question 14

Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes. IDB Plumbing Solutions is a licensed Washington plumbing contractor (License #IDBPLPS753P8), bonded, and carries full liability insurance. Every plumber on our team holds the Washington certification the job requires, and we pull permits whenever the code calls for them.

Question 15

Where do you provide service?

Accepted Answer

Across Washington State, based in Federal Way. Our headquarters covers the Seattle–Tacoma metro, King, Pierce, and Snohomish counties, and we also serve Vancouver & Clark County in Southwest Washington and Greater Spokane in Eastern Washington. If you are between those zones, call — we routinely dispatch to surrounding communities.

Question 16

Which office will handle my job?

Accepted Answer

Pick the service area closest to you. The crew that shows up knows your area's soil, water, weather, and permit offices. You can choose your service area in the Request Service form, or we will route it for you automatically.

Question 17

Do you serve rural areas outside the main metros?

Accepted Answer

In most cases, yes. We regularly serve communities well beyond our core service areas. Distance can affect scheduling for non-emergency work, so mention your location when you book and we will give you an honest timeline.

Question 18

Do you work in both homes and commercial buildings?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We run dedicated residential and commercial crews. Homes, multi-family buildings, restaurants, offices, retail, and new construction are all in scope — see our New Construction & Commercial Plumbing page for details.
