Bothell straddles the King–Snohomish county line, and that shapes everything from which utility bills you get to which permit office we call. The older core — Downtown Bothell, Westhill, Maywood, Fitzgerald, and the streets above the Sammamish River — dates from the 1940s through the 1970s, with galvanized supply lines, cast-iron drains, and aging side sewers. And the Sammamish River and North Creek valley floors flood, keeping sump pumps and slow laterals in the conversation for homes near the water.
Utilities follow the county line. King County Bothell is served by Northshore Utility District (Seattle Public Utilities water), while Snohomish County Bothell is served by Alderwood Water & Wastewater District (Everett's Spada Lake water). Both are soft, so age and pressure drive repairs rather than scale. Hillside lots in Westhill and along Juanita-Woodinville Way run high street pressure that needs a properly sized pressure-reducing valve.
