The Gig Harbor peninsula packs four kinds of plumbing into a few square miles. Around the harbor itself — the old fishing village of Harborview Drive and the streets climbing above it — homes from the 1900s through the 1950s carry galvanized supply lines, cast-iron drains, and clay sewer laterals, often on steep bluff lots with long service lines. We repipe these homes with care for their original character and camera the sewer before quoting anything.
Beyond the city limits, most of the peninsula — Artondale, Rosedale, Wollochet, Arletta, Purdy, Crescent Valley, and Fox Island — runs on private wells or Washington Water Service and on septic systems rather than sewer. That means well pumps, pressure tanks, and treatment are everyday work here, and drain problems are often really septic problems that need honest diagnosis before anyone quotes a repair. Canterwood and the other gated communities add large homes with recirculating hot water, multiple heaters, and irrigation that all depend on correct pressure.
The newest Gig Harbor — Harbor Hill, Gig Harbor North, and the neighborhoods around the Uptown and Costco areas — was built from the 2000s on with PEX and tankless systems that are now reaching their first round of pressure-reducing valve and water heater failures. City of Gig Harbor water comes from local wells and runs moderately hard with some iron, so tank heaters silt up faster than in Tacoma-supplied areas and tankless units benefit from annual descaling.
Permits inside city limits go through Gig Harbor Planning; the rest of the peninsula permits through Pierce County, with septic and well matters through the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.
